On June 10, 2026, the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) held a ceremony to celebrate the 46th anniversary of its establishment (June 13, 1980 – June 13, 2026), combined with a conference to review the implementation of tasks in the first six months of 2026 and launch key plans for the remaining six months of the year.
The event was attended by the NIN’s leadership, representatives from affiliated units, and all officials, employees, and staff members of the Institute.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. PhD Tran Thanh Duong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the National Institute of Nutrition, reviewed the 46-year journey of establishment and development of the Institute. Over nearly half a century, NIN has continuously affirmed its role as the leading institution in the field of nutrition, providing consultation and technical support to the Ministry of Health in developing nutrition policies and implementing national nutrition programs. The Institute has also promoted scientific research, training, communication, and international cooperation in nutrition and food sciences.

At the conference, PhD Nguyen Hong Truong, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Nutrition, presented a report on the implementation of tasks in the first six months of 2026 and key priorities for the last six months of the year.

According to the report, in the first six months of 2026, NIN effectively implemented tasks assigned by the Ministry of Health across various areas, including policy development, technical guidance, nutrition surveillance, micronutrient deficiency prevention, scientific research, training, nutrition communication, digital transformation, nutrition consultation services, and international cooperation.
Key achievements included the implementation of nutrition surveillance activities in various localities; distribution of nearly 3 million high-dose vitamin A capsules for the first round of the 2026 Vitamin A supplementation campaign; promotion of scientific research, professional training, and technical development; and continued improvement of nutrition consultation services for children and adults. In the field of communication and digital transformation, NIN continued to develop digital platforms providing scientific nutrition information to the community, including the VNeNutrition – a smart nutrition information and consultation application. In addition, international cooperation and resource mobilization were further strengthened through collaboration with international organizations, enterprises, and partners in research, nutrition intervention programs, training, and nutrition education communication.
The conference also featured three presentations from NIN’s affiliated units. MSc. Le Hong Dung, Director of the Center for Food and Nutrition Testing, presented on the center’s professional activities, capacity development in testing services, and orientations for improving quality in the coming period. MSc. Trinh Hong Son, Director of the Center for Nutrition Communication and Education, shared key achievements in nutrition communication, public nutrition education, and the application of digital technology to support the community. PhD Lam Quoc Hung, Director of the Center for Nutrition and Food Training, presented on training activities, nutrition human resource development, and orientations for improving the quality of nutrition training programs.
The presentations highlighted the achievements of NIN’s affiliated units and provided recommendations and solutions to further enhance professional activities in the coming period.
In the last six months of 2026, NIN will continue implementing key tasks according to the assigned plan, focusing on strengthening community nutrition, school nutrition, clinical nutrition, and non-communicable disease prevention; promoting scientific research, training, communication, and digital transformation; and improving the quality of professional services to effectively contribute to the mission of protecting and enhancing people’s health.
In his concluding remarks, Assoc. Prof. PhD Tran Thanh Duong acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and achievements of NIN’s officials, employees, and staff members. He emphasized that all units should continue promoting solidarity, innovation, and responsibility to successfully accomplish the Institute’s objectives and tasks in 2026.
