Aims: To evaluate the FAO/WHO/UNU equations for predicting resting metabolic rate (RMR) in Vietnamese adolescents and the elderly. Design: Across-sectional study with healthy subjects was done at the Basic Nutrition Department, National Institute of Nutrition, Vietnam.
Prevalence of obesity is increasing in primary school children in big cities. Obesity poses a major risk factor for non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, gall-bladder diseases, cancers, which affect people’s health and life-expectancy.
The clinical trial was conducted in adults, who are overweight/obese. It is evident that the weight reducing milk is safe, convenient and has no side effects. After 6 weeks of trial, the product had the efficacy of reducing weight, which is 5.9% of average body weight (3.9kg).

The aim of study is to find out the appropriate amount of lysine fortified to the multi-micronutrient enriched powder and to finalize the technology process which ensures to reach the final product containing 1190.25 - 1499 mg lysine/100gram product, which is equivalent to 50-70% baby recommended daily allowance(RDA) of lysine.
The study aimed to explore child nutrition practices of ethnic mothers living forlone time in Tay Nguyen area. The study design was cross-descriptive survey with multi-stag random sampling. There were 1,170 mothers from ethnic groups such as Ede (Daklak), Gia Rai (Gia Lai), Banar (Gia Lai), Xo Dang Kon Turn), M’Nong (Dak Nong) and Co Hor (Lam Dong) interviewed.
The article presents parts of research results in the frame of the General National Survey on obesity in 2005. Objectives: to identify the association between types of physical activities and overweight/obesity status of adults in Vietnam. Design: A representative survey was designed to represent all ecological regions of the country.
The study assessed nutritional status of 110 severe patients who had been given enteral tube feeding with home made high energy liquid consisting of locally available foods such as Rice, green bean, chicken egg, bean sprouts, vegetable oil, sugar, and milk. The results showed that: Average amount of the liquid used for one patient was 2158 ± 342ml/day.
English summary: The clinical trial was conducted in 32 patients at ICU of Bach Mai hospital. They were given enteral feeding with locally available food with the energy intake of 1,800 Kcal/person/day. The results showed that 59.4% of the patients gained in weight with the average weight gain of 0.3 kg (0.5 kg for malnourished patients), albumin level increased by 56.3%, total protein increased by 68.8% (p<0,05).
