Three decades since Decision No 181/CP was signed by General Vo Nguyen Giap – Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Government – on June 13/1980, the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) has been fully committed to its mission and has accomplished its duties as entrusted by  the Ministry of Health. The Institute has actively contributed to impressive advances in nutritional sciences, food hygiene and safety and has successfully transferred this knowledge toward improvement in nutrition and health throughout Vietnam. The NIN came from a relatively modest background and developed into a strong well – respected institution, bringing concrete contributions in the specific areas of public health care and nutrition, and in the general development of the nation.

The remarkable achievements show the hard work and dedication of all staff members in their roles and responsibilities. NIN’s successes were also possible due to solidarity and consensus within its Governing Body. In addition, these accomplishments are greatly attributed to the dedicated support for the Institute by The State, the Government and Ministry of Health and the local authorities.

We are also grateful to all international organizations and friends for their kind assistance.
With immense gratitude, the NIN is pleased to be receiving the Labour Hero Award, which is the most prestigious honour that are awarded by the State. It is especially moving that it coincides with the Institute’s 30 year anniversary celebration. The NIN and its staff will continue to be dedicated to serving the its mission for the benefit of public health and nutrition.
