Summary:
Yin-yang philosophy is the principle coordinating all facets of life, particularly in food cultures and health protection. In food culture as well as in Western and Eastern medicine, the common mistakes so far have derived from the basic cause that the rules of Yin/Yang philosophy were not consciously and unconsciously followed or respected as they should be. This article mentioned some serious common mistakes appearing in other writings on food culture and health protection. It emphasized the 5 closely related facets of Yin-Yang harmony in Vietnamese food culture, which are (a) Yin-Yang harmony of object (food); (b) Yin-Yang harmony of subject (human); (c) Yin-Yang harmony between subject and environment; Yin-Yang harmony between subject and time (season); (e) Yin-Yang harmony between subject and activities (work).
